There is one less artist in the world today. Jillian Johnson, along with Mayci
Breaux, were killed yesterday in my former home of Lafayette, LA. Jillian was a
passionately creative force in town. I've seen her band. I wear t-shirts that
she designed. Please do something creative today in her honor. Because you can.
Because you are alive.
After I painted today's "angel" I found out some dear old family friends raise llamas and are very involved in the community with them, and Dawn even spins their wool into yarn and then knits! They unexpectedly lost a beloved llama named Fusion, who happens to look a lot like this "angel!"
---NUTSHELL BIO--- I earned my BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 1999 and participated in the New York Studio Program through Parsons. I've schlepped a backpacker's easel across Europe trying to connect to my "painter ancestors"--they weren't kidding about the light in south of France. And if I ever win an Oscar for painting I will thank Vermeer, Kahlo, Hopper, Richter and Barney, to name just a few.
